Parameter: Audio Transcoding Type
Transcoding can be used to convert the media encoding type, for example from G.711 to G.729. This parameter controls which transcoding should be used in the system:
- Hardware Audio Transcoding: will use an external transcoding unit to convert the media stream from one encoding type to another. This requires that the external transcoding unit is connected to the SBC and it is made available. Once connected and configured in the SBC, calls that need transcoding will automatically use resources from this unit.
- Software Audio Transcoding: will use an application to convert the media stream. This function requires a license to activate the transcoding.
